IT² Staff

The Institute for Telecommunications Technologies (IT²) staff are members of the Cuyamaca College faculty and include:

Ted Chandler, Principal Investigator


As the PI, Ted Chandler provides overall direction and planning for the Institute for Telecommunications Technologies. He also has genereal responsibility for laboratory and curriculum development, coordinate curriculum integration, supervise and organize workshops and conference presentations, convene and chair the IT2 Advisory Board of Directors, develop education and industry contacts and partnerships, and has responsibility of the dissemination of project information and results. http://www.cuyamaca.net/ted.chandler/

Connie Elder, Co Principal Investigator


As Co-PI, Connie Elder assists in the overall operation. She is responsible on a day-to-day basis for implementation details, such as budget management, hiring and supervision of personnel, hiring and supervision of support faculty, interfacing with critical college communities such as Curriculum, Academic Master Plan, and Innovation and Planning, completion of all necessary paperwork to implement curricular changes, identification and establishment of mentors and/or internship sites. She assists in the development of education and industry contacts and partnerships. Additionally, she coordinates the outreach and retention efforts of female students, guide the web portal section dedicated to women, and serves as academic advisor and role model for female students. http://www.cuyamaca.net/celder/

Gretchen Ainsworth, NSF Specialist

 


The NSF grant has allowed us to hire Gretchen Ainsworth as a full time instructor. In addition to assisting Connie with the Women in Technology club and recruitment efforts, she will be teaching a variety of Telecommunications-related courses, including Linux, Cisco Networking, Computer Hardware and Maintenance, Network Security, Wireless Networking Technology, and Unix Server Administration. Gretchen comes to Cuyamaca College with a wealth of experiences and knowledge. Her most recent professional role was as a Network Administrator and she has 8 years of college teaching experience as well. http://www.cuyamaca.net/gainswor/
